The end is in sight!
The apartment will be moved out of tonight-- completely. About a backseat of things remain, as well as two monster cats.
Thank goodness.
I also have to clean the kitchen. EWWWWWW. And do small things like wipe blinds.
After all our trouble yesterday, I forgot the doggone drip pans at home for the stove. Drat! It's ok; I'm sure the landlord will find something else wrong with the place. They always do, right? So we'll have to come back on Saturday mid-day anyway.
Tonight before cleaning, I'm headed over to check this out:
Isn't it neat? I should add it's over 5 feet long. I like it, and it will nicely fit in a number of places, and will take up space on our wall without looking clutter-y. And it's CHEAP in price, so we can get it.
*
Last night B had dinner waiting for me. I love that man. Tacos with beans and rice. Woo! I had gone to the apartment, loaded up a bunch of things, grabbed monster cat Frankie, then went and picked up the rocking chair, wrapped the heck out of it, padded it, and tied the sucker into my car so tightly no way would it fall out on the interstate.
*
Needless to say, I was tired when I got home. But dinner! Bliss.
*
Tomorrow is Day 1 of trying out the vanpool. I hope it works out. All I could think about this morning on my way to work was "I could be sleeping right now." And tomorrow: I could be. I scoped it out this morning, and the park n ride is exactly where I expected it to be.
*
Knowing I can go back to sleep will make getting up much easier in the morning. Seriously! It is one thing to make yourself get up and then not have to be alert. It's entirely another to wake up and know you have to drive 50 miles.
*
Plus, this eliminates my immediate need to find the supplies for the coffee machine. I know they're in a box, in the garage. Which one is unknown though....

Hilarity in a freezer
I called my 82-year old grandmother (Oma) up tonight.
Me: Hey Omala! I have a riddle for ya.
Oma: Oh ya?
Me: Yup. So, you've heard it's hot up here right? It's 101 outside right now.
Oma: Yes. Oh it's hot down here too.
Me: Right, but everyone has AC down there, so here you have to improvise, you know?
Oma: Oh yes.
Me: So. Here's the riddle: You know it's hot when....
Oma: YOU STAY INDOORS!
Me: Nope. Not many folks have AC here.
Oma: Hmm. What then?
Me: When your husband tells you he needs a change of clothes!
Oma: Oh wow! It must be hot.
Me: Oh, I'm not finished.
Oma: No?! What else?
Me: You know it's hot when your husband needs a change of clothes, and he takes those change of clothes and puts them... IN THE FREEZER!!
Oma: WHAT?!
Me: Yup. In the freezer. He froze his clothes. So they'd be cold when he put them on.
I haven't heard her laugh that much in years. Cackled. She thinks B is awesome. So do I. And genius.

My husband
My husband is a man who promises to rescue me when I am embattled by a too-heavy-to-lift-on-my-own rug currently residing in my car.
He's unafraid to personify the cats, even giving each cat a different voice. He also frequently uses LOL talk, like making things plural to sound more cat-like (how'd that ever come to happen?), for example "hey yous. YOUS! Feeds me! I's so hungry. You suck! I has a hunger!"
He's allowed his place to be a storage unit while we go through this transition.
He's actually wants to listen to a stupid song on the radio if it means I am dancing and singing to it.
He's the man I miss SO much. Every evening I think... "2.5 hours from now I could arrive in his town if I leave now!" Every evening. Multiple times.
He loves it when I'm happy.
He's concerned about me. He gives me soo much freedom, but it's with a caring undertone. Wondering where I'm going to look at a craigslist ad. Asking for me to give him a buzz when I have a long car ride. Not possessive; caring. Loving.
He goes on adventures, tracks down things to make our house a home, and spends his weekend running errands with me. For us.
I love to hug him. The feeling is mutual.
How did I get so lucky?

22 days and why I love B
There are 22 days until we move into the new house.
19 days till the lease begins (at which point we may be close to camping at the new place out of pure joy of finally having a place together).
3 more work weeks of no B to come home to. :(
We are both so stir-crazyily ready for this separation to be over. It's cute and ridiculous. I look at the clock when I'm at home on the evenings and think that in 2.5 hours from now, I could drive and see him.
I love that he calls me every day before he goes to work, and several times throughout the day. I love that he's busy selling wedding stuff through ads I posted on craigslist. I love that he calls me up just to tell me that he is THIS close to going mad because the cat monsters were being curious little beasts.

Why I love B
He's been a rock the past few months. He's picked up the pieces, picked up the pace, and picked up where others have left off (or failed to begin). And even when I've been a miserable grump, he's made me feel better.
I get to marry him in 16 days. SIXTEEN!

Why I love B
HE FOUND AN APARTMENT DOWN SOUTH!!!!! He will be happy-- his own space, not infringing on anyone else's privacy. And, he can walk to work. I am so proud and happy for him!
I am currently putting together a bunch of things to bring to him tomorrow night. We don't want to spend too much $$$ on extra supplies, but luckily we have a ton of stuff up here so we can likely split it up between us. My list right now looks like:
* Table
* 2 chairs
* Small side table
* Small side lamp
* B's hung shirts
* B's tubs of folded shirts
* blankets
* pillows
* towels
* Pots, pans & utensils
* Canned food/supplies from our kitchen
Yikes, what a lot of stuff. And the list is sure to grow. But so worth it! He already found a futon, so let's hope he gets it and we can pick it up on Saturday. I know futon sounds college-y, but it's a studio, so really, it makes the most sense.
I wonder if I can add a few "monster cats" to this list without B realizing... Hmm...

Why I love B
He is helping. I had a bad week last week, as the invitations are taking longer than I want and so I am stressed. So, B steps in and helps out. He is trying to find an apartment, trying to sort out hotels, and soon will begin working on music.
The stress of jobs and marriage classes and wedding and families and not enough time has really weighed heavily on our minds these past few weeks. Too much to do, we're not where we want to be geographically (ie: in the same city as each other), and we are so frustrated.
But this weekend, it felt like the tides had turned. We both know what has caused our frustration, and it's not each other. This weekend, there wasn't any grumpiness. We let our frustration take second tier to each other, and we had so much fun. :)

Invites, continued...and why I love B
Last night continued the saga of invites. I have decided that the back office will not get cleaned out until after invites are sent. We NEED to get invites sent SOON, so it seems kinda stupid to spend time clearing out a room. Granted, the room clearing needs to occur, but the invites need to occur first, so.... no cleaning for now.
Got 12 invites worked on, did another step on 5 more. It's work! At least it's work I can watch TV to, but still.
Tonight: Same old same old. But...
(Why I love B)
...B MAY come home tonight for a mid-week visit! I feel bad... he drives 2.5 hours each way. And of course, it makes me worried to have him drive so far when he's tired, you know? He claims he isn't, but I still fret.

Why I love B
He whispered in my ear last week "end of the year, 2009"... as to when we'd get a dog. Personally, I think he has a tad lofty of expectations (we said we'd get a dog when we get a house...), but I love that he can be a dreamer. We both cannot wait to get a dog. A big, burly, sheddy, fantastic golden retriever, probably.
I have been thinking about that comment ALL week long. I knew he wanted one (we've talked about it a LOT), but to have him indicate a goal was just so sweet.
If it's a girl, I think the name "Sunny" is cute. :) Especially ironic in Oregon!
PS: The dog on the blog at the top is our friends' dog, Sadie. She was very excited about a WALK and snow, as you may be able to tell. B lavished attention on her, but also taught her to sit at before crossing a street with him. And, in the process, won over our friends ("love me, love my dog" should be their motto.

Why I love B
Two-fold today:
1) He knew my phone's battery was dead, but he still called me and left messages so that when my phone finally came on, I'd have them waiting.
2) It was a lot of effort to do part 1 of the registry this weekend, and he was tired. Since BBB has even more stuff, I asked if he wanted me to take the first run at things. He said no... that he had fun last weekend and it was a project he wanted to do with me, not separately.

Why I love B
Begrudgingly, he was made to watch "Say Yes to the Dress" last night, because I claimed the show would show how not crazy and good on budget we were. Plus, it's entertaining, in a you-spend-too-much-money-and-are-annoying-and-look-horrible-in-that dress sort of way.
Not only does he watch it, but he provides commentary. My favorite was with one bride-to-be who was going to get married on a beach in Mexico. With enthusiasm, he yells at the screen "that's not a beach dress!" and got all grumpy when she chose one that clearly belonged more in a cathedral (he claimed).

Why I love B
We were at the store on Saturday, and I was toddling around in the fabric section. I really pity him on this, because, well, it's the fabric section. Even when you think I'm done and standing in line, fabrics are still calling out and tempting me to step out of line and examine them... again and again and again...
Anyway, while we were there, not only does B pick out the yellow ribbon for the bridesmaids dresses (on his own!!), but he gets this green ribbon. When I ask him why he's getting a yard of green ribbon, he says "because it's not expensive, and it makes me happy. The color is pretty. Sometimes you just have to enjoy that make you happy." He's letting me borrow it for St. Patty's day tomorrow. I think he may use it as a bookmark after that.
I love that man.

Why I love B
I have decided to add in a new element to the blog. Yes, cheesy, but it's a way for me to remember little things. It will be entitled "Why I love B," and will have that label. There are lots of small little things, and this way, I won't forget them.
