Cornelian Cherries

Yesterday, Craigslist was good to me. I found two cornelian cherry trees (aka: cornels), one bearing red cherries, one bearing yellow.

The trees are wickedly cool. Twisted and gnarly with yellow flowering shoots coming out. They are both about 4' tall right now, but they're older trees (they've just been properly pruned).

Cornels are not really cherries, but they're called that. They taste like a cross between a cranberry and a cherry, and are fabulously good in sauces, infusions, and jams. I'm really excited to have another unusual plant!!
Oh yea, and they're oblong-shaped. Neat.
